Welcome to DMRS
Diocesan Migrant and Refugee Services, Inc. (DMRS) is the only full-service immigration legal aid clinic serving low-income immigrants and refugees residing in the southwestern United States. A ministry of the Catholic Diocese of El Paso, DMRS began providing legal services in 1987 to Central and South American refugees fleeing their war-torn countries and undocumented immigrants needing legal assistance resulting from the passage of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, which offered legal resident status to undocumented immigrants and agricultural workers within the United States.

Since then, the organization has grown in experience and stature, celebrating 19 years of active service to all new immigrants within our community. Over the years, DMRS has expanded its services to provide legal assistance to individuals and families facing removal (formerly deportation) from the U.S., individuals seeking to attain citizenship, and assistance with the family-based immigration process, with special focus on the unification and reunification of families and on victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
DMRS also provides refugee resettlement services as well as services to religious workers throughout the country. The Board of Immigration Appeals has accredited DMRS, thereby giving several of our non-attorney staff the authority to represent clients in administrative and immigration court proceedings.
